In this blog post I will be talking about Tejano music. When I think of Mexican music I think of up beat music. This year I really have been into Mexican music. It really is a good type of genre of music where you just hangout with some friends at a party and dance around and just have a good time. This music is also known as Tex-Mex music. This music is a mixture of Mexican music and with U.S influences. The music first started in the mid 19th century. It originally originated in Texas. Even though there is Mexican and Latino kind of style it is mainly American influenced.  When I think of Tejano music I just think that only people from Mexico sing this kind of music and that it is only Spanish music. When I began researching I realized it was more than just Spanish music. It is more than it is a mix of various things like folk , rock, r&B, Country and of course latino music. The Tejano culture is very important for food but also the culture that the Tejano music brings to the...

For this blog I chose to do my mom. My mom was born in the mid 1960”s so that is when all the good songs were out. I asked my mom what was her first memory of music? She said “My first memory of music is almost hard to believe but I have a memory of me standing in my crib around age 1 1/2 and a single of Barbara Ann by The Beach Boys playing on a small record player on a dresser.” i found that really fascinating to hear that from my mom to learn something from her. The next question I asked her was What was your first experience with music? She said “My little xylophone “. I never thought to ask my mom that question and it was an interesting thing to learn. I asked her next How did music impact your childhood? She said that music was everywhere in my childhood.  My parents were divorced when I was 3 and if I heard a song while I was with my dad, which was pretty much a given, I would relive that memory of us when I heard the song again when we were apart. When my mom was young she ...

The first instrument that I researched was the drums. The drums is Africas main instrument that plays.  I also enjoy playing the drums for fun or just simply listening to the drums .  I personally feel like that the drums Is what makes a song a song and it makes the listener be engaged. In the African culture they have multiple instruments to percussion the one that stood out to me the most was djembe this instrument I see very commonly in any music video or of showing culture. When I went to this around the world thing for church. There was different people from across the world and they were using that exact instrument it is always interesting to watch instruments being played beautifully. This instrument I guess could be common because it is easy to use so any age you can use it. This is not also admiring of how children of that culture can use it but of how mesmerizing it sounds. Another interesting instrument is one of the instruments that has been around the longest. Thi...

I can listen to this song on repeat wherever I am or whatever mood I am in. I heard this song when it came in 2020 and I instantly loved the song. The sound is what drew me to feeling something towards the song.  This song has a meaningful message to me because through my hard times in life I need to always remember that god is by my side where ever and whenever. When I was little around 4 I would listen to this song on the radio. With christian songs in my opinion I have noticed that it is so easy to sing the song or simply hum it. When I was young I would sing it all the time when It would come on. This song is not also ...
